NEWS/NERA deploys BRIDGE Technologies™ Monitoring architecture in national broadcast contribution network.

(Amsterdam, The Nederlands - 7th September´2006)

The state-owned broadcaster MRT in Macedonia is now live with a world-class, next-generation broadcast contribution network based entirely on IP technology. The network is deployed primarily with radio/television distribution in mind. However, the architecture chosen ensures other services such as: high-capacity data transfer (‘clips’). Voice-over-IP and Internet transport are equally possible right from the start.

The solution is based on a high capacity wireless IP infrastructure that is cost-effective, reliable and fast to deploy. As the network stands today it distributes 3 TV channels from the central/national studio to 4 regional locations using IP multicast. A studio quality return contribution feed is deployed between one regional studio and the main location. The system is currently being expanded with a further 5 regional locations.

NERA Networks has performed systems integration as well as delivering wireless radio links. BRIDGE Technologies has supplied its world-class renowned IPTV monitoring architecture. TANDBERG Television has supplied its state-of-the-art compression technology.

Frode Vindenes, Business Development IP Broadcast, NERA Networks ASA:
